Tonks has always had her own way of looking. Not a very tall or regal looking girl, aside from her hair, her heart shaped face is her most distinctive feature. With fair skin and high cheek bones, there is hints of her Black blood in her face, though she'll be the first one to unclaim that part of her heritage. Her eyes are a dark and twinkling brown color, that twinkle being the mischievous side of her that hasn't grown up. Her hair is straight and she likes to keep it short and bubble-gum pink in color. Her mother was never really fond of that color, liking much more the mousy brown color it had naturally been.
Tonks likes to wear simple clothing that's functional and lets her move around. Usually, she'll have patched jeans and a 'Weird Sisters' shirt on which she'll layer with another shirt. Feeling cold most of the time, Tonks has long black coat that she made herself. It's a bit of a cross between a muggle coat and a cloak, with tons of pockets and snaps. She has a pair of leather fingerless gloves that she wears often along with an odd necklace that she always wears.

Is what you see, what you get with Tonks? Well, that point could be argued either way. Seeing as her appearance can change with her mood, it's never exactly easy to tell what Tonks is thinking. For the most part, Tonks is an eternally curious and adventurous person. Her youth lends itself to making her take the riskier chances and more dangerous courses of action. Impulsive and quick to act, Tonks thinks she can handle any situation thrown at her. This idea of invincibility has come from her close friend and mentor, Mad Eye Moody. If you know what you're doing and keep your wits about you, there's a good chance you'll make it, a slight paraphrasing of his own saying, Tonks is a very confident woman. Mad Eye's actual phrase was "If you know what you're doing and keep your wits about you, there's a good chance you'll die anyways," but Tonks prefers hers much more.
Still a Kid
As complimented as she is by the fact that she's Mad Eye's protégé, Tonks is still concerned with being thought of as "the kid." A talented Auror and witch, Tonks is still quite clumsy and young when compared to other members of the Order. She's always trying to prove herself and show the rest that she can pull the same scratch as everyone else. But as grown up as she thinks she should be, Tonks really is still just a kid. A closet romantic, still more naive than she thinks she is, Tonks still holds a great deal of youthful idealism in her heart.

Born to Ted and Andromeda Tonks, little Nymphadora was an unusually active child. She was always running around outside and clambering up and down trees. By the time she was eight, Tonks had broken both arms several times. Her trait of being a Metamorphmagus was clear from the time she was born, giving her mother a real fright when she came in the mornings to find a different looking baby from the night before. Tonks didn't understand that she was special and thought her skill was something that everyone had. After giving a group of playmates a fright when she around eight, her father sat her down and gave her a very serious talk.
By the time her letter arrived for Hogwarts, Tonks was pretty much the girl that could described as, "that odd one." Her quirky smile and sense of style set her apart and if those things didn't, her pink hair did. Of course, what some people took notice of first was her heritage, which caused Tonks a lot of trouble in her later years at Hogwarts. With her mother being Andromeda Black and with the nefarious Bellatrix as her aunt, Tonks was watched a lot more closely than she knew during her first years. Many eyes turned away when she was sorted into Hufflepuff, but some still watched to see where this girl would put her loyalties.
And it didn't take long for Tonks to decide who she'd back. Her loyalty went immediately to Dumbledore and by the time she had started her fourth year, Tonks knew she wanted to be an Auror. Passing with decent enough marks, Tonks didn't earn the position of prefect or head girl as she was too much of a problem behaving herself. It seemed that the streak of Black mischief ran thickly in her blood. She had been in a few fights during her time at Hogwarts and few would chose to irk her. Leaving school, Tonks went into training to be an Auror. There, she excelled, earning high marks and the attention of Mad Eye Moody. Since she started training, the man saw her potential and chose her to be his protege. Tonks worked incredibly hard and was the youngest witch to be made an auror.
With the death of Dumbledore and the rule of Voldemort, Tonks and several others disappeared from the Ministry, going underground. Tonks is hungry to prove herself and bring down the Dark Lord and his lackeys. While all this grown up business is going on, Tonks finds that she's fallen in love with Remus Lupin. She often feels guilty for being so mushy over him, it seems too selfish for the times they're living in.
