Having come from lunch, Katie Bell, headed out into the open air of the courtyard. She smiled, looking up into the bright blue sky. They day was clear and the air was sweet. One may not worry themselves with the current state of things, on such a fine day.
Being in her sixth year of schooling, Katie had a free period after lunch, before her Charms lesson. Katie made her way to the center of the courtyard, where a fountain stood. The water from the fountain glistened in the sunlight. She sat down, and let her hand touch the water. Pulling her hand back slowly, she leaned back, looking up at the few clouds in the sky.
It was a great day to go for a flight, but being a non pure blooded witch, flying had been restricted, except for matches, and the few practices of the Quidditch teams. Katie sighed. She was surprised by the quiet of the courtyard. Usually there would be many passers by, during lunch.
Maybe there had been another restriction, that she had not yet heard about. It was with that thought, that the blond rose up, and took her book from her schoolbag, and started to read. At least for now, they hadn't band her from that joy.
Soon, people started to come and go through the courtyard. Katie had heard the bell, and knew they were on their way to class. Happy that her time was not so occupied, at the moment, she continued to read, wondering if any of her friends could meet up with her.

Seamus had been walking through the courtyard from the castle holding his new Firebolt in his hand. He hated having to attend Care of Magical Creatures next, so had decided to skip the class. Broomstick in hand, he walked through the courtyard until he spotted Katie Bell sitting there by the pond reading a book. He knew she was a member of the Gryffindor Quidditch team, which is something Seamus had tried out for on one of the school brooms and not been chosen for. The memory made his face go slightly red as he watched Katie.
Seamus wondered what was so fascinating about the book he was reading, but more interested in why she wasn't out at the Quidditch Pitch practicing her flying. In his opinion she could use all the flying practice she could get. Smiling at the thought, he walked over to Katie, broomstick in hand. "Hey Katie, what are you doing sitting by the pond when you could be flying?" He asked, clearly not caring about the restrictions that had been placed on them. With his mother having been a pureblood even with his father being a muggle, Seamus didn't care about the rules right now even if they did apply to him.

Hearing a voice, Katie turned around. She saw that it was Seamus, a fellow Gryffindor. He was only a year below her, so she knew him fairly well. She gave him a smile, and closed her book.
"Shouldn't you be in class,Seamus? You don't want to fail you OWL's,do you?" she asked teasingly. It didn't take long for Katie to see the new broom. She loved all things that delt with flying, and new brooms made her over exited at times.
However, when he posed the question about her flying, her smile faded. For now, flying whenever she pleased, wasn't an option. She only valued two things above her broomstick. Those two things, were her family, and her own life. Of coarse, most would say they weren't things at all, and couldn't count as such.
Not adhering to the stated restrictions could cost her one, or both of those things. She watched him carefully, for a moment. Was he joking? Katie knew that people in her same house were known for bravery, but nowadays, it could get you killed. Times weren't safe for someone of his, or her status.
Her mind wondered why he would even attempt missing a class, when such restrictions, and regulations were in place.
"Why do you ask me that? You know perfectly well, I'm not allowed. Neither are you, so I don't know where you're going with that." she said, noticing he had a broom. Her voice was clear, and her tone was a little aggravated.
